1166 – Betty Boop
Betty Boop made her first on-screen appearance on August 9, 1930, in the cartoon “Dizzy Dishes.” She is widely regarded as one of the first and most famous sex symbols on the animated screen, and certainly makes an impression here. It could be said that this depiction is incredibly lifelike, but of course, Betty Boop is a two-dimensional character, drawn by animators. But who could resist her trademark hourglass figure, pouty little Cupid’s bow mouth, and extreme eyelashes that charm one and all? Those big blue eyes and her sinuous pose, resting atop her platform, are seductive and innocently flirtatious at the same time. This rendering is impeccable in every detail and sure to be a hit for any occasion. All that’s missing is her inimitable voice, singing “Boop-Oop-a-Doop!”
