1954 – With a Cherry on Top

This charming little piece of work might be just what you are looking for. Two tiers in aesthetically pleasing pastels of yellow and blue, with just a touch of bright red for contrast. The bottom tier in pale yellow is decorated with tiny red cherries without stems, and announces the name of the birthday celebrant in large, pastel blue lettering. The upper tier is in pastel blue, with appropriately miniature crowns in pale yellow hand-drawn on the side of the cake. A bright ribbon of red encircles the base of the top layer, and ends in a decorative bow, in front. Atop this delectable centerpiece rests the proverbial “cherry on top”, signifying the pièce de résistance, and assuring one and all that this design is simply irresistible, from bottom to top – or top to bottom – whichever you prefer!
